How Everything Became Easier In Her Life
Take a second and close your eyes.
Imagine you feel like you’re 100 years old.
Your bones are creaky. It’s difficult to get out of bed. Everything hurts. You have no confidence and you have no energy.
Now imagine how it would feel to hop out of bed with renewed vigor and to move confidently and pain-free.
And what if all it took was a couple of yoga classes a week to make this fantastic transformation come into being?
Hard to believe, right? But that’s exactly what happened to Janice. And that’s why she’s Winter Garden Yoga’s Client of the Month.

She Was Discouraged
“I was having trouble getting out of bed and functioning throughout the day,” Janice said.
She has arthritis, two knee replacements, and two thumb replacements. And Janice felt old.
“I could only muster a ‘geriatric shuffle’ to get around,” said Janice.
Housework was almost impossible for Janice. She had to take breaks to catch her breath when she was cleaning. And getting up and down from the ground was out of the question.
“Even getting out of my chair was a struggle,” Janice said.
She knew she had to make a change.
“I thought about yoga,” said Janice, “but it seemed to be much more than I thought I could do.”
Then she did some homework and found Winter Garden Yoga.
“I loved Winter Garden Yoga’s slogan: ‘Flexibility Not Required,” Janice said, “but I kept putting off getting started because I was going to wait for the beginning of 2014.”
And then she caught herself by asking, “What are you waiting for?”
“I just want to feel better,” said Janice, “so I called Winter Garden Yoga and got started right then and there.”
She Found Hope
“I love Winter Garden Yoga,” Janice said, “The low impact moves are something I’m able to do and the instructors are very helpful with technique.”
Janice started coming to class 2-3 times a week and began feeling better in about a month.
“I wasn’t groaning or complaining as much,” Janice noticed.
Her balance has improved and the strength in her legs, backside, and arms is enhanced now.
“I’m at least 90% better than I was before I started coming to Winter Garden Yoga,” said Janice, “I’ve got more energy and I find it’s easier getting out of my chair. And I can get up and down off the ground! That was unthinkable.”
Janice just feels better. She used to feel like she was 100 years old and now feels more like she did when she was in her 50s.
“I used to take 1600 milligrams of Ibuprofen twice a day to manage the pain from my arthritis,” Janice said, “but now I only have to take it when I really need it; maybe once a month.”
Other terrific results Janice is experiencing include:
- Touching her toes. “I never thought I’d be able to do that again,” said Janice.
- Sitting cross-legged. “I couldn’t do that before coming to Winter Garden Yoga,” Janice said.
- Her physical therapy sessions were reduced. “My physical therapist said my muscle tone was great and that I wouldn’t need a full six weeks of therapy,” said Janice.
Also, the meditative benefit of yoga has been a great stress reliever for Janice. “I look forward to the hour and 15 minutes of just me and my mat,” said Janice.
“I’ve never done an exercise program -ever- that I’ve stuck with for over two years,” Janice said, “I look forward to it because I know I’ll feel so much better when I’m done.
